We are pleased to announce our plans to renovate Hwang Karate’s headquarters studio. The Springfield studio has had a central role in our Art and has served as our national headquarters since 1974. We have also been providing the most comprehensive special needs karate program in this state since 1995. Our intention for these renovations is to expand our ability to provide access and improved accommodations and services.
The new studio will be situated entirely on the ground floor. There will be a separate entrance and exit, lobby, parent viewing area, and lavatories, all of which will be wheelchair accessible. All of our students and families will benefit daily from the convenience these new features and services will provide.
We welcome you to come in and view our studio plans, see our students, and hear about how the renovations will benefit our members as well as the surrounding community.
We have established a building fund dedicated to supporting this project. We have set up several levels of special contributions which will be recognized in a permanent plaque in the new studio lobby. All contributors of any amount will have their donations personally acknowledged and registered with the studio, and contributors will be listed on a scroll in our waiting area.

Legend
A. The main studio will remain in its current location in order to preserve our long history with our founder, Hwang Kee, and his successor, Kwan Jang Nim H.C. Hwang. We will add a small viewing area with a glass panel so that you will be able to view classes without disruption.
B. The special needs studio will be accessible from the waiting area and the main studio as well as from the viewing area. There will also be glass windows installed for viewing classes.
C. There will be a separate waiting area that will include a reception/information section. This space will be accessible as you go through the main entrance. From this area, students will be able to enter the viewing area, both studios, and the changing areas.
D. There will be a viewing area independent of the waiting area for anyone who wishes to observe classes. This area will have glass windows so that you may view classes in either studio.
E. The reception/information counter will be located in the waiting area. This is where students and parents will be able to pick up announcements or any other information. This is also where instructors will consult with parents and answer questions.
F. The head instructor’s office will be located next to the waiting area and will be accessible from the special needs studio as well as from the waiting area.
G. The main entrance for the studio will be relocated; the entrance door will remain on the ground level. You will not need to use the stairs. Once you enter through the door, you will be in the waiting and reception area. From the waiting area, all other sections will be accessible.
H. There will be men’s and women’s changing areas attached to the lavatory areas. These will be accessible from the waiting area.
